How to Connect Your OpenAI Account with Definer's AI Source

This guide will walk you through the steps to link your OpenAI account with Definer's AI source, allowing you to make the most of its features.

Step 1: Access Your OpenAI Account

Visit the OpenAI login page: https://platform.openai.com/login

If you don’t already have an account, you can create one here: https://platform.openai.com/signup

Step 2: Create a Project (Optional)

You're logged in. Before we move to grabbing our API keys, you can organize them by project if you'd like. This lets you collaborate with your team, set custom billing limits, and have better visibility over usage.

If you want to use this feature, on the top left of the screen, click Default project and then Create project.

Step 3: Create an OpenAI API Key

Since the OpenAI API isn't free, you need to create an API key so the platform knows who you are and who to bill the work to. To generate an OpenAI API key, look to top-right side of the screen, and click Dashboard.

2.avif

After you read the welcome message pop-up, you can click Get Started to continue. 4.avif

Close the pop-up. On the left-side menu, click API keys. 5.avif

On the top right of the screen, click Create new secret key. 6.avif

A pop-up will appear with your API key settings:

  • Under Owned by, select "You".
  • Give your API key a descriptive name, such as "Definer".
  • If you created a project in Step 2, select it from the dropdown. Otherwise, leave it as default. 7.avif

Once you've adjusted these settings, click Create secret key, and the platform will generate one for you. You won't be able to see this key again: copy and paste it to a safe place. 8.avif

After copying the key, click Done. Your new key will now appear in the list. You can edit its name, permissions, or delete it later if needed.

Step 4: Add Credits to Your OpenAI Account

You won't be able to use the API if you don't add a few credits. On the top right of the screen, click the cogwheel icon to go to the Settings page. 9.avif

On the left-shand menu, select Billing. 10.avif

Follow the instructions to add a payment method. The process is similar to other SaaS platforms. 11.avif

Once you’ve added a payment method, your available credits will appear on the billing page. 12.avif

  3. Go to the "Sources" page and find the "AI" source in the list.
  4. Click on "Settings".
  5. In the "Provider" field, choose "OpenAI".
  6. Paste your newly created API key into the "API Key" field.
