Sources
Definer offers a variety of sources to provide you with the most accurate and relevant information for each specific query. This page explains the different types of sources available.
Content Sources
Content sources display visual information like definitions, translations, images, and more. They appear on the left side of Definer's result window, giving you comprehensive information about your query.
Default content sources include:
- Google Dictionary - Provides definitions, examples, and etymology
- DuckDuckGo Instant Answers - Offers quick information snippets
- Wikipedia - Displays encyclopedia entries
- Google Translate - Translates text between languages
- Bing Images - Shows relevant images
- Google Search - Provides search results
- YouGlish - Shows videos with your search term in context
- AI - Generates AI-powered explanations and examples
- Custom - Create your own custom sources
Audio Sources
Audio sources provide pronunciations of words and phrases. They appear at the top of Definer's result window, next to your search query.
Default audio sources include:
- Speech Synthesizer - Uses your device's text-to-speech engine
- Google Dictionary Phonetics - Offers high-quality pronunciations
- Custom Audio - Create your own audio sources
Multiple Sources
You can add multiple versions of the same source with different settings. For example, you might want Google Translate configured for different language pairs.
For sources that can have multiple copies, you can change their icons to better differentiate them by clicking the three horizontal dots ...
→ "Edit" next to the source name.

Each source can be configured individually to provide the exact information you need. Click on the linked source names above to learn more about their specific features and settings.
