AI API keys
An external AI provider uses an API key to connect requests from Definer to your provider account. Each provider has its own account and key-creation steps, so follow the guide for the provider you selected.
Create a key
The individual guides include the provider dashboard screenshots and the final Definer setup screen.
Lumetrium AI does not need a separate provider key. Ollama and LM Studio also do not need an external API key in their ordinary local setup; use the Ollama or LM Studio installation article instead.
Enter the key in Definer
- Open Definer Options → Sources → AI → Settings → Main.
- Choose the provider that issued the key.
- Paste the key into API Key and choose an available Model.
- Enter a harmless question in Preview and confirm that a response appears.
If the provider reports that the key is invalid, return to its dashboard and confirm that the key is active and belongs to the account or project that has access to the selected model.
